CRANBERRY TINCTURE

CRANBERRY TINCTURE

The cranberry tincture is nice in color and very refreshing. It is made of well-frozen cranberries, that is, it is set in winter, when there is no other fruit. Cranberries are kept warm, drenched in spirit, preferably near the hob. After 2 weeks the fluid runs off, cranberries grated with a rolling pin in a makutra, squeezes through a flannel bag, and the resulting fluid is filtered. The two liquids are combined together and the syrup is added as with other tinctures. Since cranberries do not have their own scent, it is good to add them to each bottle 1 a drop of almond oil. This operation should be done by pouring the oil into the hot syrup. The oil added directly to the spirit could confuse the tincture.
